Maine Coon Price in Malaysia: 2026 Guide

Lee6 February 2026

Our maine coon price malaysia figures: three published tiers from RM 5,000, what moves a kitten within one, and what every price includes.

What Does a Maine Coon Cost in Malaysia?

At Mainesory in Damansara Perdana, a kitten placed as a pet is priced from RM 5,000 to RM 15,000, a show-quality kitten from RM 15,000 to RM 30,000, and a kitten placed with breeding rights from RM 15,000 to RM 40,000. We publish our range rather than asking buyers to enquire blind, because the single most common frustration we hear about the maine coon price malaysia market is that nobody will give a straight answer until you are emotionally committed to a kitten.

The figures below are ours. Other Malaysian catteries price differently, and a lower quote is not automatically a worse deal — but it should always prompt the question of what has been left out, which the rest of this guide covers.

Why the Pet Range Is So Wide

A three-fold spread inside the pet tier looks odd until you know what is being held constant. At most catteries, price differences are driven largely by pedigree: a kitten from imported champion lines costs several times one from ordinary stock. That is not the variable here.

Every Mainesory kitten descends from the same CFA elite Russian bloodlines, and every one has parents screened for the same hereditary conditions. Pedigree and health testing are a floor we do not move, which is why our entry price starts at RM 5,000 rather than the RM 2,000 to RM 3,000 you will see advertised elsewhere. What varies from kitten to kitten is the individual animal.

The range is wide because it spans the whole litter — from a sound, healthy kitten with pet-typical structure up to the strongest kitten we produce that year. Both are sold as pets on the same terms. Three things decide where a particular kitten lands.

Structure and Type

How closely a kitten matches the breed standard — boning, muzzle depth, ear set and tufting, tail length, coat density. Two littermates from identical parents can differ noticeably here, and the kitten with heavier boning and a stronger head will sit higher in the range even when both are sold as pets. This is the single biggest driver, and past a certain point it moves a kitten out of the pet range altogether and into the show tier. We price a kitten first at one month and review it again at two, three and four months as its facial structure declares itself — see our pricing page for how those reviews work and why a deposit fixes your figure.

Colour and Pattern

Silver, shaded, and tortoiseshell coats sit toward the upper end because fewer are produced, not because those cats are healthier or better tempered. Brown and blue tabbies typically sit lower for exactly the opposite reason: they are the most commonly produced coats in the breed. Our visual guide to Maine Coon colours explains which coats are genuinely uncommon and which are simply marketed that way.

Sex

Males and females are priced differently, as they are across the breed. Males grow substantially larger, which is what most buyers picture when they imagine a Maine Coon, and demand follows accordingly.

Show Quality Is Its Own Tier, and We Publish It Too

A kitten whose structure genuinely meets the show standard — heavier boning, a deeper square muzzle, the ear set and tufting a judge looks for — is priced from RM 15,000 to RM 30,000, above the pet range rather than at the top of it. There are not many in a year.

What matters is that the figure is published rather than quoted to you in a private message. You can see before you enquire what a show-quality kitten costs here, and you do not need to know anything about breed standards to check whether the number you are given matches the one on this page. A kitten that is not show standard is not priced as though it were, and we will say plainly which one you are looking at.

Breeding Rights

Kittens sold with breeding rights are priced from RM 15,000 to RM 40,000. That is higher than the same kitten would be as a pet, because you are buying the cat and the right to breed from it, and because we place very few each year.

The ranges overlap, and it is worth being clear why. The pet tier tops out where the show tier begins, and breeding rights start at the same figure, but that reflects different kittens on different terms rather than a discount — any individual kitten costs more with rights than without. Where inside the breeding range a kitten sits depends on the cat, on what the rights cover, and on what you intend to do with them.

If you are working toward a programme of your own, contact us and tell us what you are building. We would rather have that conversation properly than quote a number into a vacuum.

What Is Included in Every Price

The same package accompanies a kitten at either end of any of the three tiers. Nothing on this list is an optional extra or an upsell at collection.

  • CFA registration papers documenting the full pedigree
  • Genetic health screening of both parents for HCM, PKdef, and SMA
  • Age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming, with records
  • Microchip with ownership registration
  • Written health guarantee covering hereditary conditions
  • Starter kit with the food and litter the kitten is already used to
  • Cat carrier for the journey home and for vet visits afterwards
  • Lifetime breeder support — we answer questions for as long as you have the cat

You can review our health testing programme and meet our breeding cats to see what sits behind those figures. Our stud Xue Bi and queen Luna are both fully screened, and their results are available to anyone considering a kitten from them.

Why a Cheap Kitten Usually Costs More

Unregistered kittens advertised under RM 2,000 are common in Malaysia, and the saving is generally borrowed rather than real. What is missing is almost always the same set of items: no CFA papers, so no verifiable pedigree; no cardiac screening of the parents, so no way to know whether hypertrophic cardiomyopathy runs in the line; no written guarantee, so no recourse if something emerges at eight months.

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is the condition that matters most here. It is the most common heart disease in the breed, it frequently shows no symptoms until it is advanced, and the veterinary cost of managing it comfortably exceeds the entire saving on a cheap kitten. Our article on HCM, PKdef and SMA testing explains what screening actually involves and what results you should ask to see.

A second, quieter cost is the cat you end up with. Kittens raised in cages and separated from their mother early are more likely to arrive fearful, and no amount of patience fully undoes it. Our cats live loose in the house and kittens are raised underfoot, with a nursing mother penned with her litter for its first weeks. Rearing this way is a real expense and part of what the price reflects.

How to Compare Two Quotes Honestly

When you are weighing our range against another cattery's, compare the items rather than the totals. Ask both breeders the same four questions: are the parents CFA-registered and can I see the papers; have both been screened for HCM, PKdef and SMA and can I see the results; is there a written health guarantee and what does it actually cover; and were the kittens raised in cages or in the home.

A cheaper kitten that answers all four the same way is a genuinely better deal, and we would tell you so. A cheaper kitten that cannot answer them is not cheaper at all — it has simply moved the cost somewhere you will not see until later. The same logic runs through our guide to choosing a reputable breeder in Malaysia.

Payment and Reservation

A deposit is RM 500, with the balance due before collection at twelve weeks. It is applied to the price rather than charged on top and fixes your figure on the day it is paid. It is not refundable, but it never expires and can be moved to another kitten or another litter as often as you need. Full details are on our deposit page.

We do not run waiting lists on kittens that do not exist yet. If nothing currently available suits you, we would rather tell you when the next litter is genuinely expected than take money against a maybe.

See What Is Available Now

Current kittens, with their coat, sex, and price, are listed on our available kittens page. If you want to talk through where a particular kitten sits in our range and why, contact us — we are happy to explain the reasoning on any individual cat, and you are welcome to visit the cattery in Damansara Perdana and see the parents before deciding.
